I’m just starting one of your books, “HTML5 Programming” And in the first Chapter, the file: headfirstlounge5.html refers to lounge.css and lounge.js files which are nowhere to be found in the Chapter 1 folder I downloaded. There is a link to elixirs.html as well which is not in the Chapter 1 folder. Just wondering if perhaps I have the wrong download files and perhaps there is an update to this file etc. Just want to make sure I get off to the right start with finding where I can find all the files.

    Thanks,

    Jim Zak

Hi Jim, lounge.css and lounge.js don’t actually exist! We were just showing an example of how you’d include the files. I upload elixirs.html (it’s from our HTML & CSS book).

I’m reading HF Java as a newbie, and things seem to make sense. However, Chapter 5 talks about creating separate classes (SimpleDotCom class and SimpleDotComTestDrive class). In earlier chapters I would create both of these classes in one java file and it would compile into two separate java classes. In this chapter we’re to create two different java files and compile them so that the SimpleDotComTestDrive class knows about the SimpleDotCom class (so that it can create an instance). What syntax do I need to accomplish this?

    Hi

I have just read my first Head First book (CSS/HTML) and am completely blown away by the learning style you have employed. Have you a list of references to ‘ the latest research in cognitive science, neurobiology, and educational psychology,’ which I could read?

    Thanks.

      Hi Lisa,

Three authors who consistently write great stuff in this area are Daniel Pink, Daniel Kahneman (Drive is great, as is A Whole New Mind), and Dan Ariely. (Funny, they are all named Daniel!). Also, I recommend Design for How People Learn by Julie Dirksen, Practice Perfect by Doug Lemov, and Your Brain at Work by David Rock, all of which are fairly new and totally relevant. There are lots more but these should get you started and most have great references to follow up on.

Hi, Do you have a release date for the new JavaScript programming book? A rough guesstimation will do if not an exact date, thanks.

Well it’s going slow (as all Head First books seem to do). Right now I’d estimate by the time it actually hits the shelves in stores, it might be towards the end of the year, but I’ll update if that changes.
