Adobe kills Flash on mobile browsers

Now you have can move ahead with HTML5 in your mobile pages with even more confidence. Adobe announced this morning that they will no longer continue the development work on the mobile Flash player after shipping 11.1. That leaves HTML5 as the obvious solution for creating rich experiences in the mobile browser as was also acknowledged by Adobe.

In our opinion this really clears the way for Adobe to leverage its experience with toolsets to support the creation of HTML5 pages and applications. We’re looking forward to seeing what they come up with.

What do you think?

I like it ! Flash has its place. It is not the all and everything solution however. I also think that the learning curve for Flash is not just high, its like climbing mount everest.
So instead of promoting development to a restricted view (who will have their place like plastic surgeons have in the medical field :) ) it allows for more communication and still beautiful useful interfaces using HTML5.

As someone who works on a very complex application using flash, I am not looking forward to going back to supporting multiple browsers with HTML5. We also do things that we won’t be able to do in HTML5 until there is broad support for SVG.

There’s fairly broad support for SVG in the newest versions of the browsers, so it’s just a waiting game until people get rid of older versions on their computers. I’ve also been pleasantly surprised at how many of my HTML5 apps works cross-browser without any special effort.
